Groundbreakers uses a cutting edge curriculum to combine neuroscience, social emotional health, and work ethic development to provide healing and training for a productive life. Youth generally spend 6-9 months in the program, and have 16 contact hours per week.
Curriculum consists of 3 parts: Experiential Learning (wood, bike, culinary, clay, and media labs); Work Experience (on and offsite maintenance projects, including hired work at private homes and businesses); and an Internship (Groundbreakers has over 20 private sector business partners who complete trauma-sensitive employment training. Kid’s Crossing provides all wages, taxes, and insurance).
